What to do

  1. 1

Check that your passport is valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure.

  2. 2

Be ready to show proof of the purpose and conditions of your stay and enough money for your stay and for your return or onward travel. The police can refuse entry if you cannot show them.

  3. 3

Register your stay within 24 hours of arrival. Hotels and other accommodation providers do it for you within 12 hours.

  4. 4

Count your days: no more than 90 days in any 180 days. For a longer stay apply for temporary residence.

Rules change. Montenegro has aligned its visa policy with the EU: from 1 November 2026 citizens of Belarus, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye need a visa. Always confirm with a Montenegrin embassy or consulate before you travel.
